Staffer for Senator Rand Paul Stabbed in Washington, D.C.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) issued a statement condemning the stabbing of a staffer in the nation's capital.
The staffer, Phillip Todd, was attacked on Saturday night and is currently recovering in the hospital, according to Paul's office.
“I am outraged by the attack on my staffer and condemn this senseless act of violence,” Paul said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Phillip and his family during this difficult time.”
The attack occurred in the H Street Northeast neighborhood of Washington, D.C., around 10 p.m. on Saturday. Todd was walking down the street when he was approached by an unknown assailant who stabbed him multiple times. The assailant fled the scene and remains at large.
Todd was transported to a local hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries. The extent of his injuries is not yet known, but he is expected to recover.
Paul's office said that they are cooperating with the Metropolitan Police Department, which is investigating the attack.
