Conservative Leader Says Agreement Hurts Canadian Workers

Pierre Poilievre urges NDP to abandon 'sweetheart deal' with Liberals

Conservative leader says agreement 'hurts Canadian workers'

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is urging the NDP to abandon their "sweetheart deal" with the Liberals, saying it "hurts Canadian workers".

Poilievre made the comments in a speech to the Canadian Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, in which he accused the NDP of "selling out" Canadian workers by agreeing to support the Liberal government's budget.

The NDP and Liberals reached an agreement in March that will see the NDP support the Liberal government's budget in exchange for a number of concessions, including increased funding for affordable housing and dental care.

Poilievre said the deal is a "betrayal" of the NDP's working-class base, and that it will lead to higher taxes and inflation.

"This deal is a sweetheart deal for the Liberals, but it's a raw deal for Canadian workers," Poilievre said.

"The NDP has sold out Canadian workers by agreeing to support a budget that will hurt their jobs, their families, and their future."

NDP defends deal

The NDP has defended the deal, saying it will help to make life more affordable for Canadians.

"This deal is a good deal for Canadians," NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh said in a statement.

"It will help to make life more affordable, and it will invest in the things that matter to Canadians, like affordable housing and dental care."
