ORLANDO, June 12 2024 - The US Mens National Team used a first-half free kick from Christian Pulisic to battle back and earn a 1-1 draw against No. 1 Brazil in an international friendly at Camping World Stadium.
In their penultimate match before the Concacaf Gold Cup this summer, the Americans salvaged a result following a poor showing in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Colombia in Carson, California. After falling behind in the seventh minute to a goal from Real Madrid star Rodrygo, the United States came to life and leveled the match 13 minutes later through Chelsea attacker Pulisic.
Pulisic’s equalizer was a thing of beauty, as he curled a right-footed shot from 25 yards out around the Brazilian wall and into the top corner of the net.
The United States had several chances to win the match in the second half, but could not find a way past Brazil goalkeeper Ederson. Tim Weah missed a great opportunity in the 55th minute, while Haji Wright had a goal ruled out for offside in the 80th minute.
Ultimately, the draw was a fair result, as both teams had their moments. The United States will now turn their attention to the Gold Cup, which will be held from June 26 to July 16 in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
